Uzbekistan’s grain production increases by 6.6 pct in first half of year

TASHKENT, July 29 (Xinhua) — In the first half of 2024, Uzbekistan produced 5.8 million tons of grain, an increase of 6.6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the state statistics agency.
It is also reported that the Ferghana region occupies the leading place in grain production, accounting for 12 percent of the total. The smallest share was observed in the Republic of Karakalpakstan — 2.3 percent.
The country’s grain production reached 8.2 million tons for the first time in 2023, according to the country’s presidential press service. ■
